This time around, the story is a little bit (but only a little bit) more down to earth and the reason for that, in the main, is that this story centres on a very lovely old woman called Mrs Whittaker who is a creature of routine and habit. If you’re familiar with the latter, the first thing that will strike you about Chivalry is this: Doran is something of a chameleon when it comes to style, each book adopting a look and feel that suits the story.

Chivalry is (to the best of our knowledge) the second time graphic artist Colleen Doran has adapted a Neil Gaiman story from his 1988 collection Smoke and Mirrors (the first was her 2019 adaptation of Snow, Glass, Apples).
